German carmaker BMW is thinking, about launching another new model called the X4, following the unexpected success, of the X6 SUV. Since its launch in 2008, the SUV has sold no less than 80,000 units worldwide, these figures are double the manufacturer estimates.
According to British publication Autocar, a car smaller than the X6, but in the same pattern, called X4, expects to receive the green light for production in the very near future. The X4 platform could be separated from the X3.
"We have not made any firm decision," said a BMW source, "However, the X6's success shows that there is a continuing demand for SUVs,".
BMW has created many niche products in recent years, including X1 and the 5 Series GT models. The BMW Gran Coupe Concept, presented at the Beijing Car Show, could foreshadow the new series 1 launching in August of 2012.
